Terrific insights folks!

Yes, Janice, secular liberals in government seemed determined to stamp out the last vestiges of the religious bedrock on which our nation was founded. Without the church acting as the American social conscience, people would think they are "totally free" when indulging broadly in every type of immorality, seemingly without consequence. But in fact, they would become "slaves to sin" (Romans 6:16-20) and lose all true freedom. As in the ancient Greco-Roman world, our formerly self-sufficient, innovative people would allow themselves to become hedonistic wards-of-the-state, demanding merely "bread & circuses." This would allow secularist rulers to consolidate & perpetuate their own power indefinitely by making people dependent on government for every need & desire.

Thanks Brian for your affirmation. Your creative "slippery slope" scenario could soon become reality for people who no longer learn about the Constitution in school, and who cannot distinguish between true needs and "frivolous wants." (The Constitution severely limits even the "needs" government should meet). This ignorance coupled with the entitlement mentality of Fluke's generation will bankrupt & weaken America very quickly unless we reverse current trends.

Rebelling against the Lord's principles & demanding unlimited goodies? Yep, sounds like bratty, whiny babies to me. God forgive us, and help the U.S.A.

I hope your blog goes viral...great comments. This Fluke hearing was one ugly circus - but will it stop there? Here's what's next: 3-4 Viagra reps, seated and looking somber, will make the claim that if Obamacare doesn't fund for male enhancements, a huge cross-section of US men will wander about depressed, aimless, looking for their lost mojo. And Gloria Allred, seated next to a tearful coed, will state that if Obamacare doesn't cover waxing, eye-brow plucking, and monthly pedicures, the young lass will hate men and vote Republican. Yikes.

Hi Linda,

Good comment as always. I would like to add, in my opinion, that Obama's objective in the Sandra Fluke matter, had not much to do with her, Sandra and et al's licentious lifestyles and governments mandate to support it. But, it provided an opportunity once again, to tear down and chip away the objective truth found in the institution of the Catholic Church. He has systematically declared war on her - the church. This fact is evident. If he can silence the church and those who follow Christ's teachings and dim the light of truth, then there is no stopping his diabolic intentions (even though he believes they are good). And I am afraid to say even at the expense of sacrificing of his two daughters.

Thanks Susan!
And OMD, you've beautifully distilled my entire post into one succinct statement: "Many times that which is unseen is much more attractive then that which is given away, freely." Amen to that! :)

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful. 1 Peter 3:2-5 (NIV)

Women must be very careful how they dress. Tight, form fitting clothing, short skirts, see through clothing, cleavage exposure are simply advertising her sensuality to all men. Men are visual. Many times that which is unseen is much more attractive then that which is given away, freely.

Thank you dear readers! I am moved and my spirit is immensely buoyed by the outpouring of encouragement from you all! The Lord has raised you up as a team of faithful, praying cheerleaders, sans pom-poms :) And I know there are many more teammates who haven't posted but quietly support my efforts.

OMD - Thanks for the apropos quote from the "rough rider" himself! Writing a "politically incorrect book" is indeed a rough ride, but infinitely more satisfying than a "safe, gentle walk on a smooth, level path".

Holly - You wrote: "It matters not the “market”, the reception, or the journey there…. the outcome is obedience to the task given (to me)." Yes, one of the themes throughout my book is that God calls us to be faithful, not successful. He rewards our obedience and is alone responsible for the impact of the book. He certainly defines "success" differently than we sinners do. Even though I tell others these things I still need to hear them stated back to me once in a while . . . uh, okay, FREQUENTLY! Thanks for your willingness to keep reminding me :)

Tanja - Thanks for Colossians 3:23 " . . . work at it with all our heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” . . . one of my favorite Scriptures! Bob & I are entering a season in which I should be able to devote more of my heart to the book and less to employment for paying the bills. Keep your proofreading skills sharpened; I'll be sending you a new chapter draft soon.

Kim - You wrote: "All these steps are also reminiscent of pregnancy and childbirth."
Yes, prior to reading the Churchill metaphors I had heard other authors compare book-writing to pregnancy & birth . . . after naturally delivering 3 daughters I can relate!

God bless you all!

Thank you for sharing your insights about Churchill and your upcoming book. However we view the writing process, fun or arduous, your attitude that God has directed our work as writers is spot on. God crafted us with the ability to use words well, and then he put a burden upon our hearts. We just need to trust him enough with the process and remember that "whatever [we do,] we work at it with all our heart, as working for the Lord, not for men." I am looking forward to reading your manuscript.

The calling, the striving, the discipline to reach a goal.... all part of His huge tapestry being woven and spun for unseen.... and seen.... Kingdom purposes. He has given you the gifts and the tools..... He will strengthen you to persevere in this important task. The old adage.... "if only one life is impacted/changed", etc..... bears a weight of truth that is worth considering. It matters not the "market", the reception, or the journey there.... the outcome is obedience to the task given YOU. What a privilege to cheer you on, and watch the mystery unfold.
